UNITED NATIONS;HERO OR ZERO?

                            WHAT DO THE PYRAMIDS RESEMBLE?

My English Language teacher shot out this question at our whole class, one day early this year. Some peers of mine spoke about great success of the Egyptians, magnificent architecture of the landmark of iconoclastic style, intelligence of ancient civilisation and etc. But,what my dear teacher said after that, really made me to ponder.

She mentioned that, the structure of pyramids resemble a slavery hierarchy, adding that the tip of the world icon signifies an '”invisible hand ruling us,without us knowing it.This hand controls us with its agenda and propaganda. To make it simple,it makes the world go round. What she said may be her personal opinion, but we need to consider the real connotation of her idea.

United Nations;an international organisation comprising almost all nation members of the globe. Its primary objective is to look after the welfare of the nations. In terms of science, technology, culture,et al,United Nations has championed these issues internationally, remarkably.

Well, that was the documented objective! So far and so forth, although UN has contributed significantly to the human civilisation prior to this,I personally feel that this establishment is capable in doing more.United Nations is being led by a handful of prominent figures, selected by the nation members. One example is,the secretary-general of UN,Ban Ki-Mun.However,I am curious regarding the existence of the noted Security Council. This council acts as an advisor to the United Nations. It comprises five permanent members and ten non-permanent members.Yet,the former is the heavyweight in this 15 members council.United States,Britain,France,Russia and China are the big shots of permanent membership.

These five countries have veto power to vote on all the issues brought to the council’s attention.I am not anti-Security Council but,I feel that the presence of this particular veto power creates a form of hegemony.I believe,in spite of the differences the countries poses in terms of development and economy, each and every country is the same.No country is more superior than the others.

In the case of Palestine seeking sovereignty recognition from UN,US threatens to use its ultimate power to dismiss the application.Ironically, almost all other members of UN have given their consent to Palestine. Also,in the case of Unesco accepting Palestine as a member,US has decided to put a halt to its annual funding to the UN’s arm. These cases, out of plenty, showcases how they are manipulating their power.

While I respect the success of the five nations,I do not want to see anyone being the slaves to these countries. And I believe that this is a communal hope of the global community.

Let the prominent figures worldwide, sit together and repeal the veto power given to these countries. They can continue being the advisors of UN,yet any decisions taken should be based on mutual-consensus.Should the veto power remains,I do not think that the global community needs such an organisation.Other leaders,PLEASE SPEAK UP!

Steve Jobs And Muammar Gaddafi; The Truth Revealed

Last month, the month of October, exhibited significance in many forms.A month which marks firmly the end of flamboyance and success, hatred and vengeance. Two prominent figures, each at different corners of the world, now no longer with us,lost their lives in their respective ways.Steve Jobs and Muammar Gaddafi.Once they were embracing the future, now no longer.

Sipping a cup of hot choc while writing this blog post by using my Macbook Air,I wondered how these two men had marked a point in mankind written history. The story regarding their shocked entire globe, regardless of anyone out there. But,I assume that many of us are much more concerned about Lindsay Lohan's nude photoshoot for the "reputable" Playboy magazine. Her mother said that the photoshoot went on well.Imagine that."Good mum, good daughter."

When Steve Jobs passed away, the story of his death due to pacreatic cancer went viraling beyond continents.People started paying tributes regardless of their religious beliefs. And not only that, millions if not billions people started to "shower" Apple's official website with condolences. While his death was shocking,to witness how many of us shed our tears for him is inevitably, mesmerising.

On the other hand,Muammar Gaddafi, the ousted Libyan leader, died in the hands of hos own people.Being the ultimate ruler of Libya for 42 years(he beats Tun Mahathir,Malaysia's ex-premier,in record),he was killed be the rebels pathetically after he surrended to them.A video showing the incident clearly showcased the vengeance many Libyans had in Gaddafi. But,this simply does not mean that their action of killing a surrended man could be justified.

I am not a Libyan, but if Gaddafi had done mistakes in the past, these rebels who killed him proved to be not much different than him. But,now all that we can hope for is that, the International Criminal Court would take severe actions in this case.

Jobs and Gaddafi may have nothing in common(expect the fact that Jobs's biological father is a Middle-Easterner),but their life stories greatly epitomised the one and only naked truth. You may be anyone, but at the end of your life, you are nothing. If while being alive, you can do something significant to at least a person, you shall always be remembered.

P/S:To the political leaders and prominent public figures out there, you may have great powers, but when the people power rises in any circumstances, you can not withstand the pressure.Learn something from Gaddafi.
